ABOUT US

VEGAN CAFE x FABRIC STUDIO

Fabrics.
Community.
Sustainability.
Plant-Based Cuisine.

Those are just a few words that would describe KAPPRA Cafe.

It all began twenty years ago when the Kappra Family started their fabric journey as textiles suppliers by the pier of Din Daeng. Then and now, the streets of Pahurat around them have been filled with the bustling sound of Vespas transporting rolls and kilograms of fabric around the city. The colourful, charming Italian scooter has since become the symbol of Old Bangkok’s fabric district. If you look closely at the KAPPRA logo, you will see our very own Vespa gleaming with a hot cup of steaming coffee in the middle.

As business turned into a love for the community, the Kappra Family made it a point to provide back through all kinds of means - trash clean ups, sponsoring and maintaining community gardens, encouraging waste management, and giving employment to those in need around the area to help keep the community happy, clean, and lively. They extended this community-mindset to their production center at Chonburi, supporting local temples and multiple food businesses, as well as in Samut Sakhorn, where their staff are growing fruits and have hand-built resting areas by a pond.

While more and more people started visiting their various spaces personally, to appreciate and relish in their textiles work, the Kappra family were also nurturing a new passion for plant-based food and its benefits for our health and environment. They knew then that it was time.

This realization that others in our community, too, would appreciate health-conscious food and an artistic space to play, convinced the family it was the perfect opportunity to clear out their next door warehouse and convert it into something even more for the community. Something that was lacking in the neighborhood: an entirely plant-based cafe that whole-heartedly advocates for the artists in the area, education, sustainability and our environment.

It was then that they renovated the space, sourced the simple, delicious, organic local ingredients, and transformed them into wholesome food and drinks that not only excite the taste buds, but create a positive impact in the world. They wanted to share this with all those that walk into their space. To celebrate a culture of creating beauty in art and fashion, as well as making the world a better, more beautiful place.

That was when Kappra Cafe was born.

What does ‘Kappra’ Cafe mean? It actually just means ‘Fabric’ Cafe in Hindi.

But to the Kappra Family, it isn’t just textiles. It means so much more.

It is the community. It is family. And it is service.
